If you are paid to provide a pilot and airplane for the purpose of transporting people or goods, chances are you must operate under part 135 of the Federal Aviation Regulations. 135 operators are held to standards that closely resemble those found in the airlines. These include approved maintenance programs, pilot minimum hours, drug and alcohol testing programs, and a rigorous pilot training requirement. The FAA has outlined other types of commercial operations that do not require a Part 135 certification. These are found in Part 119.1, paragraph "e" and include aerial photography, skydive operations, banner towing, crop dusting and scenic flights among others.
